Securing Your Reservations
I. Terms: All weddings must have a wedding planner or wedding coordinator. We can recommend several good coordinators in Tahoe who are familiar with Fjeldheim, or you may provide your own. Fjeldheim staff cannot provide event coordination, although we can help your coordinator understand the issues and resources at Fjeldheim. View Vendors
II. Deposits And Balances: Tables, chairs, sectional flooring and stages, bunting, decor, etc is the responsibility of the coordinator, not Fjeldheim staff. Additonally, parking and transportation, lighting, catering, entertainment, facility use, garbage disposal and insurance will also be organized by your coordinator. Finally, the cleaning fee associated with renting the house does not include breaking down the event nor cleaning the grounds and should be arranged by a coordinator.
III. Cancellations and Refunds: All wedding receptions hosted at the house must also be catered. We can recommend local caterers who are familiar with Fjeldheim, or you may provide your own: ask your coordinator for help. Fjeldheim is not a Bed & Breakfast and does not have a liquor license or food service license. Fjeldheim's kitchen, housewares and furniture are for the use of overnight guests only.
Fjeldheim History - Established 2003
Built by the Nelsons in the 70's as a vacation home with a taste of the Old Country, Fjeldheim welcomed a wide variety of family friends, extended family, and many others-- the Nelsons' hospitality at Fjeldheim was renowned.
In 2001 the family patriarch passed ownership of the home to his three adult sons, and it seemed that Fjeldheim would have to be sold unless it could somehow begin to pay its own bills. For the next two years, the three Nelson men and their wives toiled to upgrade the already-remarkable home. They considered making Fjeldheim an Inn, but part of the house's charm is its rambling integrity, the joy of having full use of the whole place. Folks love to explore its paneled halls, from bedroom to bath, from library to bar, without fearing that they are trespassing on another guest's territory.
So in 2003 Fjeldheim opened to the public as a VRBO. We have hosted dozens of weddings, anniversaries, family reunions, and retreats, vastly growing the legacy of Fjeldheim.
